The total price for the workshop is $2,995 per person.

Lodging is not included. Participants are responsible for arranging their own accommodations.

Discover the Magic of Caddo Lake in Autumn
There’s no place quite like Caddo Lake in the fall.
Misty mornings, towering bald cypress trees draped in Spanish moss, still reflections, pockets of golden light, wildlife moving through the shadows, and brilliant fall color make this one of the most unique photography destinations in the South.
During this workshop, you’ll explore Caddo Lake and the waters surrounding Uncertain, Texas, aboard both private pontoon boats and mud boats.
Using two different types of boats gives us entirely different photographic opportunities. The mud boats allow us to navigate narrow waterways and hidden areas that larger boats cannot easily reach, while the pontoon boats provide plenty of room for photographers and access to some of Caddo Lake’s most iconic locations.
With sunrise and sunset photography, wildlife opportunities, landscapes, night photography when conditions allow, and personalized instruction, this experience is much more than a sightseeing trip.
The trip is a hands-on nature photography experience designed to help you come home with better photographs and better photography skills.
Mud Boat Photography Expeditions
Travel into narrow, photogenic channels deep within the cypress swamp—areas larger boats cannot easily access.
These smaller boats give us opportunities to photograph intimate landscapes, reflections, moss-covered trees, wildlife, and tucked-away scenes that many visitors never see.
Sunset & Night-Sky Photography
We’ll take advantage of Caddo Lake’s incredible evening light for golden-hour photography, silhouettes, reflections, and dramatic landscapes.
When skies are clear and conditions cooperate, we’ll also work on night-sky photography from the lake or dock.
Private Pontoon Boat Photography
Our experienced Caddo Lake captains know the lake, its changing conditions, the wildlife, and where to find some of the best light.
These sessions are designed around photography rather than traditional sightseeing.
Basic Itinerary

We will divide participants into two small groups so each instructor can provide plenty of individual attention.
Groups will rotate between the mud boat and pontoon boat throughout the workshop.

Participants are responsible for reserving their lodging for the workshop.
We recommend staying in or near Uncertain, Texas, or Karnack, Texas, so you are close to our early-morning meeting locations. Jefferson is an option, but it is about 30 minutes away from Caddo Lake.
The closest airport is Shevport, Louisiana, about a 45-minute drive, and Dallas Love Field is about a 3-hour drive.

No advanced photography experience is required.
Pre-Workshop Classes
Before the workshop, I will provide training and support to help participants arrive prepared and confident with their cameras.
We’ll cover important settings, equipment preparation, and techniques you’ll use on Caddo Lake.
This workshop is ideal for beginning through intermediate photographers, although experienced photographers are absolutely welcome.
Birders are welcome too.
There is no pressure and no experience requirement.
Loaner Equipment
Loaner photography equipment will be available for participants who need it.
Available equipment may include:
- Canon DSLR cameras
- Sigma 100–400mm lenses
- Sigma 60–600mm lenses
- Additional Canon lenses
- Mirrorless adapters when needed and compatible
Loaner equipment is available on a limited basis, so please contact us before the workshop if you anticipate needing gear.

Deposit & Cancellation Policy
A $500 deposit is due at the time of booking unless other arrangements have been approved.
The remaining balance must be paid in full 120 days before the workshop start date.
Our photography workshops require us to make significant advance commitments for boats, captains, guides, instructors, permits, and other services. For this reason, deposits and payments are subject to the following cancellation policy.
If an unexpected situation arises and you need to cancel, we will do everything reasonably possible to help fill your spot.
- If we are able to replace you, we will refund the amount received from the replacement participant, up to the amount you have paid.
- If we are unable to fill your spot, deposits and payments are non-refundable and non-transferable because of the advance commitments required for the workshop.
